south london label and party series troy town is proud to present the first release in 3 years from warren brown aka wbeeza, insanely talented south london producer and 1st generation pioneer of what has become affectionately known in dance music as the peckham sound . djs, producers and musicians such as henry wu, bradley zero and chaos in the cbd have added to the wealth of a deeply musical community but it was the likes of brown and another se15 local, el-prevost, who first put the area on the dance music map. although he s resistant to using the word house too often about his music, the swing nods to detroit and chicago while the links to friends and collaborators, delano smith, mike agent x clark and scott grooves are clear. progressing through a musical heritage that has seen him produce across grime, hip-hop, drum n bass and techno but it s his signature low slung, heavy-on-groove and atmosphere productions that have garnered the respect of peers and critics whilst his popular and energetic live sets have seen him tour extensively around the world for the past 8 years. this 3-track ep covers a variety of moods and situations. opening with the od, a heady march to peak time on the dancefloor which has featured heavily in live sets over the last 2 years. the bassline bubbles tantalisingly as it edges through a kinetic, digital riff that sticks with you long after the lights go up. grove park is so low slung that the snare sounds like it might fall out of sync at any moment while the lead synth leads you on a drunk walk home, at times holding it s line before stumbling over a pitch bend and veering to find its balance. bizzle boogie is equal parts gritty, midwest-influenced bounce track and shimmering eyes closed rave moments.

last spotted tomfooling as tryck & ton with edvin edvinsson, and prior to that as tiedye on mike simonettis italians do it better imprint, subversive swede anton klint makes his debut on simonettis latest label 2mr with two more vitally trippy, heavily dub-informed originals. ‘mun chugs at a stately 107. rippling in places, squiggling in others, theres an unabashed fx weirdness bubbling and popping over the insistent shimmering dubwise groove. tweaking, freaking but running at such a smooth temper theres space between the chaos, anton is balancing some heavily hypnotic alchemy here. ‘strupe takes things even lower and slower. a dusty bluesy chugger, unhurried-yet-relentlessly building with a great sense of cosmic drama, listen and marvel as more elements are precision introduced throughout the seven minute trip. a masterclass in modern day honkytonk. remix-wise were thrusted into the later hours with a technoid twist from andre laos. maintaining antons originals trippy charm and measured pace but re-amping it with grittier foundation, teasing risers and an insurgent synth strike, its the perfect complement to one of 2mrs most singular releases to date. open wide.

an underwater adventure by young parisian shelter. where previous releases have seen the synth-obsessed frenchman take his inspiration from caribbean rhythms or balearic attitudes, this marine missive sees shelter turn to the lavish world of the library,creating his an alternate score to jean faurez 1960 documentary short.

the second release of wataj recordings introduces for the first time mr. tony pianola. a trip inside his conscious and unconscious mind during a night in which dreams, euphoria, lost loves and desires mixed all together give life to luce artificiale. the result is a pure italo-synth style influenced by the attraction for the experimental slow disco sensuality.

david mayer’s career and background is marked by a desire to keep moving and experiencing new perspectives. having finally settled in berlin, the german dj and producer has built up an enviously diverse back catalogue on labels such as connected frontline, objektivity, gruuv, audiomatique and keinemusik. with his first release on acid pauli and nico stojan’s ouie label, mayer brings his trademark groove to the fore once more. ‘the call’ is a mid tempo chugger built around a kick, clap and 808 blip, before a more organic groove develops. the slowed down chants and wigged out synth line take the vibe into afro cosmic territory, without losing the original energy. ‘sooner’ is a little more urgent - a crisp, forward leaning rhythm and a deep, subby bass lead the way, before another frazzled synthesiser takes us on a melodic walkabout. ‘black queen’ is another example of mayer’s slick drum programming, keeping things zesty on the dance floor but with acres of space to lose yourself in.

two sprawling sagas just in time for your summer… the fast-rising brazilian-in-barcelona known as terr takes time out from launching her new live show to touch down on planet correspondant. and she does so with two beguiling cyberpunk schematics. authentic down to the last wavy synth idiosyncrasies, both neuromancer and ‘multiverse extend the analog dialogue terrs been parlaying since she emerged on hotflush in 2016. the former swaggers with loose drum charm but swoons with sweeping synth emotion while the latter struts with late night neon fantasies and a stirring sense of synth triumph. both provide the same message: this is terr at her most adventurous, detailed and ultimately hopeful with its strong sense of sci-fi mystique. galvanised by insane levels of relentless cosmic funk from krystal klear on the remix, every track on this ep is guaranteed to spin you into a dizzy state of delirium. precision timing from cardinis correspondant, and yet another exceptional release.

milanese pair francesco mingrino and marcello carozzi have already asserted themselves in the field of adventurous disco experimentation via two sterling outings on the highly rated bordello a parigi, and now they prove their calibre once again with an ep on the ever-vital tusk wax. there s a delicate tone to younger than me on this record, from the heartstring tugging melodics of easy rolling acid throbber -mubai garden tea- to the subtle synth pop touches of -arizona dream.- -manchester s teen- is a tougher affair with the kind of slow filter sweeping lead hook that rave dreams are made of, while -near to bali- finishes the ep on an ominous beatless note. zombies in miami turn in a remix of -mubai garden tea- that maintains the romantic mood of the original while injecting a little more dancefloor heat into its bones.

gaetano battista has been popping up intermittently for some time now, most notably under his own name on boe recordings back in 2013. now he s adopted the name mental vibe construction for this turn on chez damier s courtesy of balance, bringing his most forthright dancefloor cuts to date. guru is a muscular, punchy slice of house music executed with a midwestern toughness and lashing of synthetic soul. lifestyle is equally enchanting in its melodic qualities without skimping on the rhythm section, while lee theory takes things deeper and funkier. chi soul touches on uplifting techno tones in its illustrious synth patterns, but it s still got a house heartbeat pumping away at the centre.

psychemagiks danny mclewin has been quietly cooking up some choice edits under the skyrager alias lately, and here he is launching a new label magic wand special editions with four finely thought-out groovers for those who like their balearic business smooth and silky. there s a hefty dose of soul pouring out of these cuts, leading in with the synth-tastic sweep of dream merchant before hawaiian love song slides in with some seductive rhodes licks and romantic vocals. magik mountain is blue-eyed boogie of the highest calibre, and yeah yeah yeah edges a little understated disco into the mix for long, balmy nights dancing under the moon with your beloved.

the second in the skins whitelabel series delivers yet more carefully crafted dub techno for the dancefloor. opener ‘sahara sky’ begins with menacing low-end atmospherics, with slowly evolving pads and chords forming an assured groove punctuated by dreamy synth lines. ‘eve’ is similarly groove-based, with its relentless forward momentum kept in check by a wistful descending chord sequence. in both, skins lends the spaciousness synonymous with dub techno a club-focused kineticism, creating versatile tracks that allow djs to transform the vibe, whether building up or winding down. the record also features two synth tools: an energetic acid/dub fusion and a stripped-back polymetric chord jam, offering myriad possibilities for textural play and keeping listeners guessing

ambien baby is an emergent project from the increasingly prolific d. tiffany and dan rincon, both luminaries of the vancouver scene. after a first official appearance on normals welcome last year, the pair are back with some deft and delightful adventures through rugged breaks, playful synth touches and a healthy dose of 90s attitude. somehow these ingredients are deployed with that distinctive laid back west coast vibe that makes for such compelling listening as well as potent dancefloor weapons - take nada (live at sweep up) as a case in point. rolling breaks and nasty acid lines there may be, but the mood still has a heads down quality to it that just gets under your skin.

like scsi-9 as such always was a neverthing but still existed, so pheotron minds a future synth which lives just in our head. it is from there that we take, line by line, those melodies which join to a track. midnight red is a result you get when opening a bottle of red sharply at midnight. you must be in front of your gear then. at least, it worked for us that way.

bjarki returns to &#1090,,,,&#1088,,,,&#1080,,,,&#1087,,,, with another ep brandishing five restructured doses of idm from another galaxy. using marching kick drums as a basis, oli gumm takes references from techno, gabber and trance and morphs them into something far less easy to categorise. ‘oli gumm 2-2’ switches frantically between glistening synth cascades and bouncing kicks. ‘fork2-2’ is a subdued excursion through ominous, trance-inducing strings and skeletal percussion. opening the b side, ‘7 filakaramellur lion bar’ spirals through warped vocals and acoustic contortions, followed by ‘hatann satann’, a high speed voyage through a demonic parallel universe. closing off the ep, ‘sleikjó’ uses rolling drums to circle around a pit of sparse sonic oddities.

croatian producer ilija rudman returns to classic with his funk-drenched ‘lovers change minds’. well-known for his distinctive analogue-disco sound, the record’s delivery on 12” vinyl comes as a perfect pairing. he remains reverent to his well-rounded retro style with heavily filtered soft vocals complimented by a deep 70s-centric bassline. hot toddy’s bass-focused mixes come laden with electric guitar riffs and synth flares for an even slicker groove on ilija’s smoothly minimalist masterpiece.

one of detroits true talents today, amp fiddler joins forces with grammy winner louie vega hitting you with some funk deep house on vega records. amp fiddler is the quintessential singer / musician who has played in the seminal band parliament with george clinton, and has had his own band for years now. louie has always wanted to work with amp since first meeting him at the montreaux jazz festival when amp and his band and elements of life were on the same bill on the worldwide stage. finally coming together, amp reaches out to louie for a remix and the result is a beautiful soulful song written and produced by amp fiddler. the remixes by louie vega combining deep house sounds with the funk synths played by axel tosca. there’s one version where amp did more lead vocal overdubs and adlibs, as well a funktified synth solo version which gets immediate response when played. the four versions on 12” vinyl lend itself to different moods and are sure to bring you a dancefloor or house party on fire!

it’s always exciting to introduce new names to the spring theory roster and pedro vian, its latest addition, makes no exception to the rule. it’s also the 10th release on spring theory, so more reasons to rejoice! the barcelona-based producer came to (my) attention with his releases dancing hindus and titled beautiful things you left us for memories on his own label modern obscure music. this ep picks up some of the themes from those records and further explores of his style of elegiac synth lines and primitive drum machines. the sound of dancing alone with your eyes closed, late at night. haunting house for the heartbroken.

nz import. 12inch with printed deluxe sleeve, plus lovely 2 sided full size photo inserfor its second release, strangelove resurrects two cuts from the australian cult synth pop duo, arvos, much-mythologised 1984 album luna. having spent time in europe and with heads & hearts full of the continents synth-pop movements, deborah gray and roy nicolson each returned down-under to discover a doggedly rock orientated landscape. finding solace in roys studio and inspired by their musical o.e.s, the arvo concept was formed and an album took shape. a glamorous visual/electronic opus, major label misjudgment and local bewilderment left luna to unjustly slip under the radar. rescued here, bikini channels an ipanema electronic vibe, nostalgically recalling antipodean beach culture while the synthetic undercurrents of so deep reflect on the nature of our dreams. also presented is a reimagined so deep instrumental from australias synth pop scholar-in-chief hysteric, while french m.o.t.m. shelter tailors bikini into an excursion version.

shall i call you bobby? the second release on the swedish label jack trax on wax. on this release produced by tsr and joseph garber we have five versions of the track ”shall i call you bobby?” and one bonus track made with some help from the swedish synth duo engine one ”jack bobby jack!”. we are also happy to announce two remixes made by some great friends and producers.

“aktuel musik” is the second release from kyo, a duet of hannes norrvide and frederik valentin. norrvide is best known as the protagonist of synth trio lust for youth, though his recent solo techno productions under the guise of norin have also been met with critical praise. together with danish music’s enfant terrible, valentin, whose musical history is as difficult to trace as it is to comprehend, kyo is a project nourished by the orbit of two individuals around impassioned collectives.

killawatt steps up for his 3rd solo ep on 47. a1 accupunk thrashes and beats with complex rhythm programming. a2 the roamer continues with high-velocity alien minimalism. b1 polar polemic slows the pace to heavy stepping with cyborg talk. and b2 glacia systemic decelerates even more so the voices and synth-lines are glaciers twisting in space. portsmouth, uk–based producer and dj killawatt released the solo eps 47010 and 47012 in 2017, and featured on the label s first release 47001 with label head tommy four seven.

to conclude the unsung and defeated series we turned our attention to the distopic wave group wavering hands. the duo comes from bern and zurich, and this is their first vinyl release. the use of real drums, guitars and vocals is an unusual field for us, nevertheless, as it is clear now, we have shown no fear in going wherever our interest take us. and this time is pure new wave, kraut rock inspired music. a perfect ending for this series of unsung and defeated local heroes.

rephlex producer eod drops a mind-bending fifteen track debut album on bjarki’s bbbbbb this june. born in trondheim, norway, stian gjevik is a rarity amongst electronic music producers. possibly the most interesting musician representing the braindance and idm sounds of today, eod’s productions have landed on labels like we&#769,,,,me&#768,,,, records, sleepers, cpu, 030303 and aphex twin’s highly respected rephlex. dropping on bbbbbb last year, his ‘swurlk ep’ sold out within a month and received support from aphex twin, bicep, bjarki, nina kraviz and many more. “it s the album i ve wanted to do since i started making music - feels like a dream come true. inspired by what got me into electronic music in the first place, jungle and early ‘00s warp/rephlex -drill & bass--type stuff, but shifted through my own eod-style lens. oh yeah and loads of lovecraft references because i love those.” - eod a must-listen for fans of sublime synth-driven cuts, otherworldly beatless affairs and frenetic, machine- driven jams, eod’s ‘named’ is a refreshing and highly anticipated debut long player from a true master of his craft.

legalize lambada step up for their 4th outing with four delectable afro disco edits from sputnik. ‘superlove see s sputnik channel a south-african take on early garage house before melting feeling fine , the reggae tinged, afro boogie gem. on the flip side, groove me unearths some feel good cameroonian disco gold complete with killer guitar solo, whilst rick closes out the e.p. dropping the tempo for a synth soul, slow jam. with early support from hunee, lexx and the likes, leg004 is shaping up to be one of the summers standouts.

its a captivating encounter when a producer of relative anonymity bursts onto the scene with an exciting and engaging release, that you re drawn back to again and again, wondering how you ve never heard of them before. porto producer pedro, & washington dc vocalist jenna camille have achieved exactly that with this first release on the mighty wolf music recordings. the influences from jazz though to soul, rnb & broken beat are weaved deep within this record. you re drawn in from the off with an intro of stripped back pianos behind an emotional spoken word monologue from jenna, before it opens up into a beatsy, rnb infused groove. having pulled you in float hits you with a richness of synth textures, layers of broken beats and dreamy chords alongside jennas float mantra hypnotising you deeper and deeper. reaching the last section of the track though you re woken from that hypnotic groove with a switch to a raw and energetic breakbeat sure to get any crowd moving. keep it h 2000 , the final track on the a side, has a real flavour of fatima to it emanating from jenna s blissful vocals - laid over the top of sustained rhodes, weighty synth lines and dynamic drums. flip it over and there s a tougher intensity to future dance (it ll be ok) , coupling rhythmic stabs with jazzy chord progressions, laced behind a groove that wouldn t be out of place lighting up the floor at a co-op night. to close out the e.p. you re given a sensory overload through jenna s staggered, overlaid vocals panned to come at you from every angle its the perfect outro to both stun you and leave you wanting more. and if this extremely well-polished, first key release is a sign of things to come, pedros name will be becoming a lot more familiar in years to come. support from afronaught (bugz in the attic), bradley zero, henry wu, lefto, atjazz & osunlade

volume 11 of the masterworks music journey comes in the form a four track e.p. of edit gold from russian producer, valique. ‘it s hot heavy boogie edit opens up proceedings, laying down a guitar driven, synth boogie gem, heavy on the squelchy top lines, weighty bass and full-frontal female vocals. think about it not too long edit then takes you into peak time disco territory - sun drenched, beefed up, filtered and phased for maximum dancefloor vibrations. flip it over and you re hit with an infectious guitar lick and bumping bass from the off on one chain makes no prison edit , before that killer vocal joins the party. finally, rounding off the e.p. hypnotizing wanna be free edit treads a more late-night path with a hypnotising vocal sample coupled with panned cosmic pads and percussion, sure to entrance any crowd it s put before.

generation next returns with his 6th solo ep on the 7 days entertainment label titled phoenix. the ep opens with the song sundance kid, a tune that carries a high-spirited synth and bass throughout mixed in with a simple kick drum, high hat and snare combo. next up on side a is roseland, a cool, smooth house track from gn. a funky baseline accompanied with a warm piano, some complimentary synth and a clean rhythmic drum kit pattern. on the flip side, the first track is jungle 10.10.15. the recording used at the opening is from a voicemail received on the date 10/10/15. this track is pure memorization. the voice of a woman over a frantic high hat pattern and knocking kick drums. the last song of this 4 song ep is gold scorpion. a simple dance tune with high- energy percussion, piano, and kick drum. this dance floor mover will definitely be a favorite.

following on from the epic hammer e.p. and subsequent remix package, loft records return for their 7th release enlisting the expertise of crawford to provide two original tracks with remixes from brame & hamo and kiwi. ‘we go back is a soaring synth driven stomper - building around dynamic arps and heavy bass synths, before a driving kick and soaring pads are brought to the fore to create an expertly produced big room anthem. techno rhumba is a chuggier affair laced with spring reverb, floaty arpeggiators, expansive stabs and brooding chords perfect for those early hours of a night. on the flip side, irish duo brame & hamo are first up to take on remix duties for we go back . they rework the arp lines and pads for the intro before dropping it into a tougher techno workout of heavy duty synth stabs, epic ride cymbals and dreamy textures. kiwi then close out with their reimagining of we go back combining a killer tom pattern with those soaring arpeggiators that seem to endlessly resonate around your brain. two great reinterpretations of what was already an amazing track

bacao rhythm & steel band return with another instantly classic 45 guaranteed to be all over djs set lists. with their sophomore full length coming in september, they treat us to another bomb of a two sider.
side a is a cover of the dr dre hit “xxplosive” done up in proper brsb fashion, smashing drums and steel pans playing the lead and bass lines. they take this one into new territory by adding synth parts and dubbed out horn lines playing nate dogg’s infamous vocal hook melodies.
side b takes on one of nycity’s grimiest hip hop club anthems, mobb deep’s “burn”. we decided to do this tune and demoed it out long before the unfortunate passing of prodigy. unfortunately, he will never get to hear this cover, and that has been one of the nicest things in covering some of these more current hip hop tunes. rest in peace p.
brsb manages to do it again ... a version equally as raw and punchy as the original. pans bang out the iconic riff from the original, theremin ushers in the changes, and the low rubble of the synth bass is sure to crush the subwoofers.

framework recordings is back with a very special, limited run vinyl ep that features five fantastic artists in oliv, o’hana, blurred, fred and ground16, and deep house doesn’t come much finer. first up is the low key oliv, part of the heady party collective bedford crew. his ‘submarine cruise’ is an effortlessly atmospheric dub house track. sandy shakers, balmy pads and an astral lead synth line all ooze underground class. o’hana is another emerging producer with an already well formed sound. his gorgeous ‘lune’ is another prime bit of deep house with analogue kicks and hits, subtle vocal samples and cavernous pads that melt into the horizon.
blurred are a young italian pair from labels like lapsus, safe music and hotfingers and keep up the cultured dub house vibe with more deeply enveloping grooves and dusty hits. the chords here are smeared in the background and sure to find favour with the more intimate dance floors out there. then it’s to impressive new swiss artist fred for ‘mw.’ it’s deep and house-y again, but this time it drives forward on huge kicks, with acid lines and icy hi hats bringing the energy while yawning synths soften the edges. closing out a tasteful package are swiss pair ground16 with ‘3rd street.’ cosmic in nature and with wide open pads, this house groove is another analogue beauty with warmth, smart vocal snippets and dreamscape pads. these are timeless deep house cuts that are deceptively simple and superbly executed.

this record comes with a version for every time and mood of a club night: jo pariotas cut of the original mix is the ideal warm up tune. flowing on a synthline that calls mike huckabys waldorf to mind, it is sweet and driving at the same time. the original mix by loveits own nico brun might be called „casual affair, but comes rolling on a phat wonky rhode that brings the groove! between the crunchy drums, a relaxed vocal snipped and warm synth unfold like the first rays of sunlight. the jk & lds reduction is punchy, minimal and dubby - with its pull and release kind of melody and the stuttered vocal sample it works perfect as a peak time dj tool. finally, the a.s.s. amnesia returns mix is something else entirely… you just have to experience it in its full 8 min breakbeat aphex twin-like glory. - morri313

the whiskey pickle crew turn their attention to a new partnership from steve cobby and laurie welton, the former being known for decades of djing, label management and producing alongside the likes of stephen mallinder for throne of blood. here the emphasis, as expected with whiskey pickle, is on disco with a slight leaning to the left. -absolute- is a bubbling jam laden with illustrious threads of melody, cosmic in nature but still rooted thanks to a rock solid rhythm section. -limoncello- is a more introspective affair that works with minor chords and a more intricate set of drums, but don t be fooled the groove is very much still intact. new york duo whatever/whatever bring a tougher dynamic to -absolute,- dialing in some beefy beats and amping up the synth touches for a surefire house heater. played by

desroi debuts on avian. shifted s avian label returns to fore with a heady, five track offering from german producer, desroi. in keeping with the label s finely tuned aesthetic concerns, the music draws from a reduced palette – keeping the colours muted & the tone driven and direct, focusing instead on drawing out pleasing textures & subtle rhythmic anomalies via intricate use of delay and reverb, to arrive at a sweet spot between dance-floor potency & the more cerebral posits of the techno genre. tethered at the base by cavernous low end, heady drum machine programming drives the work – often married with a single warping synth motif shifting about the sonic periphery, modulated carefully across the course of the recording s run time to create both moments of heads down introspection & outright hysteria. like much of the best work on the label, the music has a diy quality that belies its complexity, but at the same time lends to its undoubted effectiveness. desroi s ability to harness the full force of such a limited collection of elements is testament to the producer s skill as an artist within the genre, creating a powerful sense of cohesion on his avian debut.

bangers and ash is back. the rough & ready series of records that spawned the wider styles upon styles imprint has always challenged artists (clay wilson, certain creatures, best available technology to name a few) to work their sonics for both the club (bangers) and the clouds (ash), now welcoming contakt to the family in 2018. a native of michigan and a long-time resident of brooklyn, contakt cofounded the boundary-pushing club night turrbotaxr with previous releases on argot, icee hot and second shift and detritus feature on the ash side with a spacious wash of atmospheric analog synth constructs, while shut off notice and ndo are bangers that divebomb deep into classic detroit techno. each record has been screen-printed, stamped and stickered by contakt and sus, with mixing by phil moffa and mastering by josh bonati.

opening track in the b kicks off proceedings in no uncertain fashion. it s 100% wall shaker material, the type of techno music best paired with strobe lights and towering speaker stacks. it mesmerises with its low-slung undulating bassline and detroit rhythms before giving way to some riotous old school essex stabs and sharp claps. no messing, this is a certified 3 am red light burner! track 2 chocolate biscuit accelerates proceedings! beginning with unfussy drums and a robotic, bleep-heavy melody driving it off into a wonderfully off-kilter direction. its arpreggio d rhythms may be brutish and wrestle a growling sense of menace out of the track, but the overall feel, however, suggests considerable care and attention has been paid to make it sound this way. there s clearly an uncommon musicality at play here to make something this complex feel so simple. the bpm drops next on jenny s hall but from the offset, there s enough funk and thrust in the motorised synth line to get bodies gently grooving without the beauty getting lost in the slower loop. this is blissed out, psychotropic techno - the kind of track where it feels like you re floating and falling at the same time, but all the while making sure you still remain fit for purpose on the dancefloor. ian blevins takes on remix duties this time and the berlin-based dj/producer offers up a sleek peak-time banger that fizzes, bubbles and percolates. he gives the rhythm on jenny s hall less space to swing and ties it to a tight motorik beat turning it into a slice of shiny, modern techno but with extra shoulder-checking force. its vibe drawing from a sense of outsider-party fun with a wry smile, and a knowing wink running throughout before bringing the package to a suitably left of field crescendo.

warsaw based duo private press join rekids special projects this july with four deep techno cuts entitled ‘zero sum ep’. hailing from poland, adam brocki and jan wóycicki make up private press – a project that’s released sought after cuts on labels like technosoul and indigo aera. the duo is also known by the name raw feelings, however many will be familiar with brocki’s newborn jr. alias, which has dropped releases on rhythm section, echovolt, dopeness galore and les yeux orange. ‘miracle man sets the tone with delayed resonant synths accompanied by crunchy and distorted snares before ‘becomes the prime’ opts for a lo-fi sound with filtered synth blips and enigmatic vocal slices. on the flip side ‘tooms’ delivers heavily reverberated horn-like stabs, modulated synth lines and an underpinning bass that rumbles throughout as ‘clan’ offers a fast paced cut with high pitched whistling that echoes alongside a thumping kick drum and organic percussion to bring the package to a close..

echocord sub-label echo echo continues this july with orbite’s ‘interstellar’ ep, a threetracker from the berlin- based producer. orbite is a brand new project founded in berlin, germany with a nod towards the raw, dubby sounds often heard across the clubs in the city, and where better to inaugurate things than the recently launched sub-label of copenhagen’s echocord, one of the leading imprints in the realms of dub techno, home to pioneering acts like rod modell/deepchord, pole and fluxion who have paved the way for orbite’s own twist on the genre. the ethereal pad textures of ‘skylar’ lead on the package, deftly evolving alongside bubbling synth tones, swelling chords and shuffled percussion to create a create dynamically unfolding six and a half minute cut. ‘moment’ follows, edging things further into dubbed-out territories with heavily delayed dub echoes and mesmeric spoken word poetry intertwining to create a, hypnotic beatless soundscape. ‘organi’ closes the record with emotive, billowing pads, warm bell like tones and vocal murmurs running alongside swinging shakers and stripped-back micro-house percussion.

echocord’s colour sub-label returns early june with a four- track ep from eindhoven’s albert van abbe in the shape of ‘klangbilder’. dutch techno artist albert van abbe has nearly two decades of experience under his belt in various forms of musical and visual expression, releasing on his own vanabbe imprint, figure jams, semantica and no comment, as well as playing live and djing at hot spots across the globe such as berghain, tresor, dgtl and awakenings festival. ‘klangbilder 1’ leads with a robust rhythmic drive, employing bumpy toms, shuffled hats and lumpy kicks at its core as vacillating synths, tension building drones and menacing pizzicato strings develop throughout. ‘klangbilder 2’ takes things deeper next, retaining the dusty drums sound of the previous cut whilst stirring in airy ethereal pads and choppy, resonant stab sequences. ‘klangbilder 3’ kicks off the b-side with modulating synth whirrs, emotive organ tones and a muted drum tones throughout before ‘klangbilder 4’ closes the package, taking things beatless and cinematic via emotive synth leads, droning subs and expansive echoes.
